Power over Ethernet is a standard allowing a single Ethernet (or CAT5 – CAT7) cable to carry both data and power from the same port. This characteristic also allows devices to be powered from remote or centralized locations through a patch panel. This type of connection is ideal for VOIP phones, intelligent wall clocks and displays, WiFi AP, IP-based cameras, and IoT devices in general.
