This term describes a PCIe slot useable for SSD storage, laptop WiFi card, or other types of small adapters. All m.2 cards are 22 mm wide, but available in various lengths described as 2230, 2242, 2260, and 22110. Some m.2 cards use SATA (called mSATA), an older interface originally designed for rotating storage, but this type has become increasingly rare in recent years.
