Central Processing Unit (CPU), also called a central processor, main processor, or simply “processor” is the electronic circuitry within a computer that executes the instructions of a computer program. The CPU performs arithmetic, logic, controlling, and input/output. While CPUs traditionally performed these operations in series, the addition of integrated graphics and multiple cores have increasingly enabled them to perform tasks in parallel.
