Pandemic seems to have made phone support difficult at a number of companies and eBay is no exception. As far as we can tell, the auction giant has been unable to handle calls to the phone support line since mid-July. For types of issues that require phone support, such as account suspension, resolutions now appear to be impossible. Many companies may have laid off or furloughed their phone support staff because of pandemic or decided to disable support methods altogether.
While eBay’s two support numbers still provide the initial prompts, they now refer users to the web site and disconnect instead of placing users in queue. It’s unclear how long this outage will persist and we recommend users who rely on auctions for income put backup plans in place. eBay’s web site says that creating a second account, in the case of suspension, will cause that account to become suspended as well. It’s one more way pandemic could affect your livelihood in 2020.
