Advanced Photo System type-C is an image sensor format used in many dSLR and mirrorless camera bodies. These sensors are considerably smaller than the traditional 35mm digital equivalent (AKA full-frame sensor). APS-C sensors result in a 1.6x multiplication factor for attached lenses, meaning that a 50mm lens becomes 80mm equivalent. Bodies containing APS-C are colloquially known as a “crop sensor” cameras.
