AM5

The AM5 the second version of AMD’s Ryzen desktop socket and uses LGA (Land Grid Array) to connect the motherboard to the processor. This means that unlike AM4, AM5 processors no longer have pins on the underside, but spring-loaded pins in the motherboard socket that push up to make contact with the “lands” on the underside of the processor. AM5 deprecates support for DDR4 in favor of DDR5 memory. And while AM4 processors only included integrated graphics in processors ending with the letter G (like the Ryzen 7 5700G), every AM5 processor includes integrated graphics, meaning that all AM5 processors are considered APUs.
